With the completion of the acquisition of BIM SPOT GmbH, smino AG will become a leading software provider in the field of Open BIM for the construction industry in the DACH region.
Rapperswil, September 13, 2022 smino AG, provider of the leading software solution for planning and construction projects in Switzerland, is acquiring the Austrian company BIM SPOT GmbH.
BIM SPOT has developed a technology for building information modeling-oriented collaboration in planning and construction projects.
The acquisition strengthens smino AG’s market presence and its portfolio of solutions for the construction industry.
In the meantime, smino can count over 8000 companies among its customers.
The acquisition is in line with smino’s vision of establishing itself as a standard software solution in the construction industry and offering customers an efficiency-enhancing project management and collaboration solution.
This is the next major milestone after the Series A financing round of 3.1 million within 12 months.
With BIM SPOT, the building information from the BIM models of various disciplines is brought together centrally, structured and automatically checked for errors and completeness.
With this assured model quality, the information can then be used directly on smino in the next step in various BIM use cases or transferred to other BIM software via open interfaces.
This technology is now being gradually integrated into the smino Common Data Environment platform, which is extremely successful in the DACH region, and is significantly expanding its range of functions for existing and new customers in the field of BIM process management.
smino AG is currently represented in Zurich (CH), Rapperswil-Jona (CH) and Düsseldorf (DE).
As a result of the takeover, the interdisciplinary team of BIM SPOT, consisting of BIM experts and software developers, will complement the smino team and help drive technological development and sales from the new location in Vienna.
The founders and Managing Partners of smino AG, Sandor Balogh and Silvio Beer, see this step as an important milestone on the way to becoming one of the largest software providers for B2B companies in the construction industry in the DACH region.
“This will bring us a big step closer to our vision of a comprehensive project solution that combines BIM with the classic processes of a construction project. I am firmly convinced that our two offerings complement each other perfectly and that we can offer customers further real added value as a result,” explains Silvio Beer.
“The number of individual solutions offered in the PropTech sector has risen sharply in recent years,” explains Sandor Balogh, adding: “Our aim is to be one of those PropTech companies that generate real added value for customers beyond individual solutions. The acquisition of BIM SPOT GmbH is a logical consequence of this claim.” Christoph Degendorfer, who will continue to manage the Vienna location and the topic of BIM at smino AG and as Managing Director of smino Austria GmbH, sees the merger as a win-win-win situation: “I am looking forward to working with the smino team and bringing the topic of BIM into the joint company in greater depth. I am certain that by integrating bimspot technology into the smino CDE platform, we will simplify the topic of BIM for our customers and make an important contribution to fully establishing this method in the construction industry.”
The investors are convinced that smino is taking a forward-looking step and securing a knowledge advantage through the merger: “The combination of the solutions and expertise of smino and BIM SPOT will help to meet the rapid development of customer needs. By merging the products and teams, the joint company will gain an early knowledge advantage, which we will now fully leverage together with the bimspot shareholders,” comments Manfred Heid, Managing Partner of BitStone Capital.
BIM SPOT shareholder Dr. Hans-Peter Haselsteiner (Strabag) is equally convinced of the potential: “BIM is one of the future topics in the construction industry. With the integration into smino’s rapidly growing project management platform, our BIM SPOT investment can bring enormous added value to existing smino customers in one fell swoop. I am very pleased that this forward-looking step has worked out. A really interesting company is being created that will shape the future of construction project management.” Download the press release: Media release as PDF (DE & EN)
